How did the Manchester City blue moon chant start?
In the late 80s, Manchester City was experiencing a horrid run with their away form, losing 41 games in a row from 1986 -1990. City then went on to play Aston Villa at Villa Park on the 1st of April 1990, City were in a relegation battle whilst Villa were competing for the First Division title. In a shocking turn of events Manchester City were able to beat Villa 2-1, ending their 41 games away from home loss record and giving them hope in their battle against relegation. The song Blue Moon started. The song was very fitting because City only won away from home once in a blue moon. To this day, the song is popular as ever amongst Manchester City faithful.
