The chant started at Highbury (Arsenal’s former stadium), where fans in the north bank would chant loudly that they were the north bank Highbury. Doing so, led the clock end, who were directly opposite the North bank, to come up with their own response, letting everyone know they were the clock end Highbury. My favourite part about the chant is that Arsenal fans originally came up with the name for the north bank terrace back in 1931.
