When did the “Zinchenko Oh” chant start?

The Zinchenko chant was formed in the 22/23 premier league season when Zinchenko joined Arsenal from Manchester City alongside Gabriel Jesus. Zinchenko came into the Arsenal team to help Arteta revolutionise Arsenal’s playing style. The passion shown by Zinny led the Arsenal fans to create the Zinchenko chant.

Oleksandr Zinchenko is a Ukrainian professional footballer, who was born in Radomyshl, Ukraine, on the 15th December 1996. Zinchenko started his youth career at Youth Sportive School Karpatia and finished his youth career at the legendary Ukrainian club Shakhtar Donetsk, before making his senior debut for Ufa at the age of 17.

Zinchenko only spent a year at UFA, before making a huge move to Manchester City in the Premier League. For the first season at Manchester City, Zinchenko spent it on loan at PSV and their reserve team, Jong PSV, who play in the Dutch second league. Zinchenko finally went on to make his Manchester City debut in the 2018-2019 season against Oxford United. Zinchenko had an extremely successful spell at Manchester City, winning 4 Premier League titles, 1 FA Cup, 4 EFL Cups and 1 Community Shield.

In the summer of 2022, Zinchneko left Manchester City alongside one of his teammates, Gabriel Jesus. They both made the switch to another one of the biggest clubs in England, Arsenal. Zinchenko’s start to his Arsenal career has been positive, with the team coming second in the league in his first season, despite being in a rebuilding phase. Zinchenko has an amazing connection with the Arsenal faithful, which is highlighted by the fact the supporters have already made a Zinchenko chant, despite him not being at the club for long.
