Martin Ødegaard is a Norwegian professional footballer, who was born in Drammen, Norway, on the 17th of December 1998. Ødegaard started his youth career at Drammen Strong before moving to Strømsgodset Toppfotball. Ødegaard started at Strømsgodset youth team before slowly progressing into their senior teams, where at the young age of 15, he was called up to the senior team.
The term “Wonderkid” is often thrown around a lot in modern football, and I think it’s safe to say that many would agree Martin Ødegaard was the original Wonderkid. As an U16 player, Ødegaard was invited to visit some of the most prestigious clubs in world football, such as Liverpool, Bayern Munich and Arsenal. However, Ødegaard went on to sign with arguably the biggest club in the history of football, Real Madrid, when he was 16.
Unfortunately, everything didn’t go as planned for Ødegaard at Real Madrid, where he only made 6 league appearances in 8 years, mainly due to the numerous loans. However, he Ødegaard found his home at Arsenal after a successful loan spell. He is now Arsenal’s Captain and one of the best midfielders in the Premier League.
